SunFish Academy conducted a Core Module refresher training on 25 February 2026, bringing together HR professionals from various industries to enhance their understanding of employee data management, organizational structure configuration, and career transition administration within the SunFish HR platform.
The training session was led by Joel Gunawan, Implementation Consultant at DataOn, who guided participants through a direct demonstration using a SunFish demo instance. The session focused on helping HR administrators revisit essential system capabilities while improving their ability to manage employee master data and organizational structures more effectively.
The session was designed to help participants revisit the core modules of SunFish HR, relearn how to update and manage organization structures, improve employee data administration, and better manage career transitions within the HR system.
A total of 36 participants attended the session, representing organizations across multiple industries including healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, and professional services. Participating companies included KSO Rumah Duka Carolus, Markaz Group, PT KNITTO TEKSTIL INDONESIA, PT G-TEKT Indonesia Manufacturing, Alila Solo, Colorobbia Indonesia, PT Medika Loka Manajemen, RS Hermina Ciputat, RS Hermina Arcamanik, RS Hermina Soreang, and RS Hermina Metland Cibitung.
During the session, participants explored practical configurations within the SunFish Core Module, particularly in managing organizational structure, employee records, and career transitions.
The training included demonstrations on how to configure and manage master data components such as work location, cost center, job family, job family level, and job title, which form the foundation of an organization’s HR data structure. Participants also learned how to manage organizational hierarchies by adding or editing organization units and job positions within the system.
The session also covered employee administration processes, including adding new employees, managing employee directories, handling onboarding processes, and maintaining employee records. In addition, participants explored supporting tools such as employee letters, employee surveys, and HR reporting features, which enable organizations to extract workforce data for operational and strategic insights.
Another key topic discussed during the training was career transition management, including how HR teams can record various types of employee status changes such as promotions, transfers, probation updates, and terminations. The system also supports mass career transition data uploads and offboarding configuration, enabling HR teams to manage employee lifecycle changes more efficiently.
By demonstrating these processes directly within the SunFish demo environment, participants were able to better understand how HR teams can structure employee data and maintain accurate HR records within a centralized system.
Discussion Session
The training concluded with an interactive Q&A session where participants raised practical questions related to HR system usage and operational challenges.
One participant asked whether the session could be repeated to further discuss topics such as remaining leave balances and Coretax SPT reporting, indicating interest in deeper learning opportunities related to payroll and tax compliance.
Another participant shared an issue regarding the SunFish mobile application, where employees occasionally experience attendance records that appear as unread or “pending success,” even after updating the application and ensuring stable internet connectivity. The discussion highlighted that factors such as device configuration, network stability, or synchronization processes may influence the successful submission of attendance data.
Participants also raised questions about situations where employees had already submitted leave requests, yet their attendance data still appeared within the scheduled shift when reports were generated. This scenario may occur due to timing differences in data synchronization or the processing sequence between attendance records and leave approvals.
In addition, a participant asked whether refresher training sessions related to reimbursement management would be conducted in future SunFish Academy programs, noting that reimbursement data in their organization is currently still uploaded by the SunFish support team rather than managed directly by the HR department.
These discussions highlighted the importance of continuous training and knowledge sharing to ensure HR teams can fully utilize the capabilities of their HR systems.
