SunFish Academy Hosts Time & Attendance Training to Strengthen HR Operational Accuracy

SunFish Academy time and attendance training session for HR professionals using SunFish HR

SunFish Academy recently conducted a refresher training session on the Time & Attendance Module, bringing together HR professionals from various industries to deepen their understanding of workforce attendance management and system administration using the SunFish HR platform.

The training session was led by Tisa Magrisa from the Software Maintenance team, who guided participants through a direct demonstration using a SunFish demo instance. The session aimed to help HR administrators revisit key system capabilities, improve their ability to manage attendance data, and share best practices in handling attendance-related processes.

The session focused on enabling participants to revisit the core features of the Time & Attendance module, relearn how to update and manage attendance data administration, and exchange operational insights with fellow participants.

A total of 14 participants joined the session, representing organizations across multiple sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, and professional services. Participating organizations included KSO Rumah Duka Carolus, Markaz Group, PT KNITTO TEKSTIL INDONESIA, PT G-TEKT Indonesia Manufacturing, Alila Solo, Colorobbia Indonesia, PT Medika Loka Manajemen, RS Hermina Ciputat, RS Hermina Arcamanik, RS Hermina Soreang, and RS Hermina Metland Cibitung.

During the session, participants explored several key configurations within the SunFish Time & Attendance module. These included practical demonstrations on how to manage attendance-related processes such as adding new leave types, configuring leave balances, updating employee leave quotas, setting up work shifts, assigning employee shifts, reviewing suspect attendance records, and processing attendance data.

The training also highlighted the importance of proper configuration across various components of attendance management, including shift scheduling, holiday configuration, attendance locations, attendance status categories, and attendance data management. These configurations play a critical role in ensuring that HR teams can maintain accurate attendance records and reduce manual corrections in daily HR operations.

In addition to system configuration, the session also covered workflows related to attendance requests, including leave management, overtime administration, and on-duty requests. These processes help ensure that attendance records remain aligned with company policies and operational requirements.

Discussion Session

One of the key discussions during the session involved the integration of attendance data from devices such as fingerprint machines into the SunFish system. Participants learned how the attendance interface process enables HR teams to upload, validate, and manage attendance data collected from external attendance devices.

The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to raise real operational challenges they encounter in their organizations.

One participant asked about discrepancies between the number of employees shown in the attendance report and the actual number of employees present at work. The discrepancies may occur for several reasons, including attendance data not being stored properly in the fingerprint device, delays in uploading data into SunFish, or synchronization issues between the attendance machine and the HR system.

Another participant asked whether overtime limits, such as a maximum of three hours, could be configured within the system and automatically calculated when employees submit overtime requests. SunFish HR supports automatic overtime configuration through the “Let Out” setting, allowing HR administrators to define when overtime calculations begin based on the employee’s work schedule. The system also supports overtime that crosses midnight, where the date difference is used to determine the correct overtime calculation.

Through sessions like this, SunFish Academy continues to provide a collaborative learning environment where HR practitioners can strengthen their operational knowledge while maximizing the capabilities of the SunFish HR platform.
