On Day 2, 23 September, from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM, Annie Chee took the stage. Her session showed how AI helps HR teams turn everyday data into confident decisions.
Meet the Speaker
Annie Chee is Senior Solution Delivery Lead at SunFish Malaysia. With 12 years of experience in HR technology, she leads a team of 12. Her work spans six Southeast Asian countries, and she has overseen implementations for more than 100 organisations across banking, manufacturing, and retail.
AI Adoption Is Ahead of Readiness
Annie opened with a clear message: adoption is not the problem, readiness is. Research from Aon, SHRM, and AIHR shows that 74% of Asia Pacific organisations have piloted or deployed AI. Only 39% have deployed it inside HR. Just 18% have reskilled their people to work with AI analytics.

AI Across the HR Workflow
Next, Annie showed how SunFish HR applies AI across the HR workflow. First, it captures and validates data. Then it analyses patterns and generates insights. In contrast, traditional HR systems store records and leave people to interpret them. An AI enabled system instead helps users see what needs attention.
Three Practical Uses of AI in SunFish HR
Her session covered three practical uses. SunFish AI reads claim receipts and documents, then checks the data against company rules. It flags unusual values and policy breaches, so reviewers only see items that need attention.
On payroll and attendance, AI compares periods and highlights unusual changes. It ranks issues as High Attention, Warning, or Info. This moves HR teams from manual checking to focused investigation.
Employees and HR teams can also ask about HR policies. They get answers from approved documents, which reduces repeat enquiries.
AI With Control
Annie stressed that AI should never remove accountability. For this reason, AI in SunFish HR follows user permissions, and people make the final decisions. Security, audit trails, and governance also stay in place. Looking ahead, she noted that SunFish continues to expand its AI capabilities, including MCP integration.
